Disposable sterile syringes and needles (Gauss22, i.e. long and medium thickness), disinfectant (such as 70 percent fire wine), sterile gauze, cotton and tape

Explain the procedure to be done and encourage the patient

1. Uncover the clothes on the part that needs to be injected (usually the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, the gluteal muscle of the upper quarter of the side or the muscles of the outer side of the upper leg)

2. Disinfect the skin near the injection site with a disinfectant

3. Remind the patient to relax the muscles

4. Quickly insert the needle at a 90-degree angle to the skin, but pay attention to the depth of insertion

5. Inject a small amount of blood first, if you find that blood is drawn, it may be inserted into the blood vessel by mistake, so you must discard the needle and find a new location for injection

6. If there is no blood, it can be injected slowly

7. Pull the needle out quickly

8. Press the sterile cotton to the pinhole of the skin, and then fix it with tape

9. Check the patient's response, and if necessary, affirm and encourage

10. Clean up, carefully discard the used gauze, needles and ampoules

11. Wash your hands again
